The Manipur Tourism Forum and World War II Imphal Campaign Foundation paid homage to the victims of the Second World War on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Battle of Imphal, one of the most historic battles of the Second World War (WW-II) fought in 1944.
Members the tourism forum and WW II campaign foundation along with large number of people from different walks of life paid rich tribute to the WW II victims at the Commonwealth War Cemetery and India Peace Memorial at Maibam Lotpaching today.
Dr Th Dhabali Singh, president of the Manipur Tourism Forum led others in laying floral tributes at the said venues.
It may be recalled that the National Army Museum of the Great Britain voted the battle fought between March 7 and July 18, 1944 at Imphal-Kohima as the greatest battle involving British forces.
The Manipur Tourism Forum and the World War II Imphal Campaign Foundation under the aegis of the Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur have been commemorating the Battle of Imphal for the last two years.
Delegates from many countries including the United States of America, Great Britain, Japan and Australia took part in the commemoration of the battle.
